Big Cook Weekend Is Here!!!!!

Okay, the big cook weekend is here and I was asked to blog about this process.  I'm not sure if you want to know how my crazy brain works so you can get some of my brand of crazy for yourselves or if you just want some laughs but either way I'll bite the bullet and write about the experience and then keep things going with other crazy things I do to stay organized in my busy life of kids, work, friends and life.

It's Friday night right now but big cook weekend started with planning last weekend.  I sat down with the family and asked for favorites from the last two big cooks that I have done and then went through my pintrest boards for new ideas.  I also had a list of lunchbox ideas I had made with Matthew a couple weeks ago.   I also cleaned out the fridge and organized what was left in the freezers so things were ready for cooking.

Once I had the list I spent waaaaaaaay too much time pulling together the recipes and even ended up not being able to find one of them.  So much for being super crazy organized, huh!

Then I made the shopping list which again took waaaaaay too long but I did it during my lunch hour at work.

Then the big pain in the butt was ordering all the supplies.  Since I was short on time I ended up ordering everything online between Sam's Club, Hornbacher's and Cashwise.  Again this took waaaaaay too long and I was up waaaaaaay too late Wednesday night comparing prices and ordering each item which took a while but not as long as re-ordering things because my laptop ran out of power (because I'm a dork and didn't plug it in!) and then re-ordering again because something happened to my window and I lost the orders for a second time even though I was logged in.  Grrrrrr.

Tonight all the supplies arrived.  Chris picked up the Sam's club order (which he didn't realize would be two full shopping carts to fit in his Pathfinder) and Hornbacher's and Cashwise delivered the rest by 7 pm.  Alex is at scout camp so Matthew helped unpack things and put them away (or on the folding table in the living room so I can use them as I need them) and other than that tonight is rest up time.  Just like when I rest the night before a running event I will rest up, watch a movie with the family and get a good night's sleep to prepare for tomorrow's big day.

Here is most everything ready to go.  The preschool folding table set up in the living room with room temp produce and canned products and the fridge full to the brim with the cold stuff including 20 pounds of ground beef and 15 pounds of chicken breast among many other things!

See you tomorrow!  I'm off to watch a movie with the family and find something to eat.  Ironic since the fridge and table are sitting there full of food.  LOL.
